What our MA students say

Having completed the Comparative Literature BA course at Queen Mary in 2012, I was delighted to have the opportunity to be one of the first graduates from the MA course as well, and to consolidate what I had learned previously. To say that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience would be an understatement. The lectures and seminars were without exception: measured, invigorating and a privilege to be a part of. I cannot speak highly enough of the lecturers and all support staff in the department. The MA course has definitely inspired me to continue my studies and I hope to complete a Ph.D in the future.

I cannot express strongly enough how glad I am that I chose to come to QM to do Comparative Literature. The tutors are wise, considerate and humble; I felt part of a close-knit, respectful and caring community and was filled with a strong desire and motivation to excel in my studies, not only for my own development but also to make my tutors proud. I was part of a small group of students with widely varied interests. Seminars were always relevant and interesting, and each of us found guidance in our chosen fields despite their disparity. There was also a great variety of interesting seminars and colloquia outside of the course that were made available to us. Having come from the open minds of Sussex University, I expected to come up against some resistance in my interest - pornography - but instead was met with nothing but acceptance and wisdom. I am now preparing for a PhD on this topic as a result of the support, kindness and fulfilment that I experienced while at QM.
